Wine Tasting: Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso 2019. Made with Corvina, Corvinone e Rondinella, Santa SofiaWines, Veneto

Winery Santa Sofia: From 1811 to the present. Founded in the 16th century in Pedemonte. A business that focuses on making the best Valpolicella wines the old-fashioned way. Quite possibly the most established winery in the entire veneto district that had spread the word about itself for its red wines. It has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site since 1996. Wine: A medium bodied wine. 70% Corvina and Corvinone and 30% Rondinella are used in the vinification of the valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore di Santa Sofia. Slight garnet edge with hints of berries, dried fruits, herbs, and wood spices. It has balanced tannins and a soft palate. An elegant and complex wine.

Allegri: One of Italy’s most prestigious wineries and well-known worldwide. Since the 16th century, it has been based in VALPOLICELLA. The company and its vineyards are situated on the hills of the Classica region. Their grapes are the sole ingredient in the wines that they produce. Devoted to winemaking for 400 years and a significant contributor to the growth of the Valpolicella region. Allegrini currently consists of four farms in Tuscany and Veneto: Corte Giara, Poggio al Tesoro, San Polo, and Villa Della Torre.

Wine: Palazzo Della Torre 2019, which is harmoniously connected to Villa Della Torre. A full bodied wine made with 70% Corvina veronese, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Sangiovese. Strong aromas with coffee and dark chocolate hints. Raisins and wild berries aromas. A wine with a lot of complexity, great structure, and balanced tannins.

Wine: Rosso di Montalcino 2019. A medium bodied wine that has intense aromas of red fruits, followed by coffee, tobacco, licorice, and hazelnuts. Ruby red in color. Crafted entirely from Sangiovese grapes. Vine with a balanced structure and tannins. A pleasant palate finish with orange peel notes.

Bertani Estate: Founded in 1857 in the heart of Valpolicella’s Quinto di Valpantena, or “Valley of the Gods.” Over 200 hectares of vineyards in the province of Verona are managed by the company. Wine: A full bodied wine made from 80% Corvina, 10% Sangiovese grosso, 5% Syrah, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are grown in the Grezzana area. Ruby red in intensity and concentration, with aromas of red and black berry. A wine with balanced tannins, well structured, soft, warm, and elegant.
