Negroamaro, Rivera Wines

Negroamaro 2016 by Rivera Wines, (IGT)Salento, Puglia, Italy. A great talk with Mr. Sebastiano de Corato, founder & winemaker. One of the major estates in Italy, Rivera produces wines with a bewildering and perfect feeling of structure. Their commitment to winemaking has made Rivera wines ambassadors of Puglia on the world’s market.

Negroamaro, a dark grape wine varietal that produces ruby red wines and is one of the particular grape wines of Puglia. It is the most common grape varietal of salento in the Puglia region.

IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) (Typical geographical sign), SALENTO: situated in the south most part of Puglia, having long summers and not inflexible winters. The region is home to various grape varieties such as Negroamaro, Primitivo, susumaniello, Malvasia, Verdeca and Fiano.

Tasting notes: A light bodied wine, earthy & smoky on the nose and fruity on the palate with superb surface and structure. Ruby red in color with notes of liquorice, fragrances of dim berries and a long delayed flavor impression.
